In the morning Valerie and I caught a local bus from Chao Doc to Ha Tien, took over four hours to do 95km. So many people packed onto a tiny bus, at one stage I counted 25 adults and there was only 22 seats. I had one so was stoked even though it was made for someone 5 foot 6. Roads were crummy and aircon was opening the windows. But still enjoyed the trip as it was the 'real' Vietnam. Arrived at the bus station and crossed the river into town on foot over a floating bridge set on many boat like hulls.
Got a very cheap room 70,000 between the two of us, and hired a couple of dudes who could speak English to take us around some of the local sites, we visited a cave temple, a Pagoda and a couple of local beaches. There are many Khymer people in the area as Cambodia is only a couple of Kms from Ha Tien, but the border crossing is not open to foreigners. Ha Tien is only 50 km from Kampot in Cambodia.
Had dinner for 10,000 dong, a random point at food exercise. We organised out onwards travel with out guides they would take us to the local port tomorrow and we could catch a boat to Phu Quoc Island from there.
