Jaipur

A pretty big city of around 3 million at the last census and the Capital of the Rajasthan province. Was a long bumpy bus ride from Agra, then a short moto ride to our hotel. Managed to dodge the commission game the rickshaw drivers play. Made it into town in the arvo so I headed up to Tiger fort above town for the sunset, nice views from the palace. The next day we hit the old city and wandered about, up a minaret for some nice views, did not go into a few sights due to the high admission charges, the Palace of the winds was ok, looked pretty cool and the inside was interesting as it was not like any palace id seen before. On the third day we visited Amber which was the highlight of Jaipur for me. 10km out of the city so not so hectic, two really cool forts and palaces to explore spent the better part of the day out exploring. Pretty photogenic as well. On day four we killed time waiting for out midnight train to Jalsamier. Went up to Tiger fort again as James had not been and did a walk all the way around the Walls before catching the sunset from the roof of the Palace. Then a long walk back through the old town being pestered by rickshaw Wallahs before Net and food.

Jaipur's an ok city but should have only had a couple of days here. Like the rest of the cities we have been in India and Nepal its dirty, congested, polluted and annoying. But has some pretty cool forts which I am still enjoying, ask me at the end of India and the answer might be different though.
