Border run

This was a while ago so ill try to remember it ;). Bailed out of Phuket, did not want to leave but our visas were running out so jumped on a bus up to Ranong did the usual drinking the night before so was hungover and tired on the bus, just how you want to feel for a 6 hour bus trip, least the bus had spare seats and the air con worked :D.

Found a cheap Chinese hotel in Ranong and set up a border run into Myanmar (Burma) for 7am, Was a great run, got to take a long tail across a habourlike river mouth. The immigration offices on the river were classic, shacks on poles and the boat just rocked up at the steps, our driver did all the leg work. Got to get off the boat in Myanmar was touted into a shop and offered Viagra by a 12 year old, brought some Burmese black label whiskey and bailed after giving away all my lose change (small baht) to kids, got 20 Kyat note which is worth about 20 US cents as a memento. Boat trip back was good to, customs was some army dude who checked the boat to see if we had any contraband.

Went to bail out of Ranong to Bangkok but the 10am govt bus had an accident so ended up getting a private minivan to another city and then a VIP 42 seater bus to Bangkok, then from Sai Tai Mai (Southern Bus Terminal) were James got bitten by a rat to Khao San Rd, Backpacker central.
