Vientiane

The big smoke of Laos, feels small after even Hue in Vietnam. Population is only 200,000 and city centre is fairly compact. Arrived on the night bus at 5:30am had managed to have a reasonable sleep thanks to the wonders of over the counter pharmacies. Fucking bus dropped us off about 8 kms out of town so it took us ages to get into town on the back of a truck with bench seats. Grabbed a room, had to walk round a bit to find one. Then hit the pavement, had some breakfast tried 5 different motorbikes out but were all shite so hired a push bike out.

Took a ride out to a big concrete arch supposedly resembles one in France, then bartered at the Vietnam Embassy for a new Vietnam Visa, fucking Bandits, got it down to 50 US and I get it back in day and Half which works out well. Don't think I want to spent to long here. Road the pushy out to a famous temple, looked pretty nice, but am templed out these days.

Day Two started bright and early with a bit of a hangover, caught up with the English dude I'd been drinking with (Gavin) and visited the National museum which was average but had some left over stuff from Laos many wars, so was worth a look. After that caught a public bus out to Buddha park which has many cool statues which make for some good photos. On the way back we hopped off the bus at the Beer Lao brewery and went on a tour, got a free beer, some stickers and a calender as well.

Chanaged 4000 Baht into Kip and wala, another million. Makes a nice brick of notes as they are all 20,000 Kip notes.

Heading to Vang Vieng tommorow as long as my Vietnam Visa is returned on time.
