Back in Praha

Back in Prague after a great time in Germany, cheers Dan for the stay and the tours.
Jumped on a train today and went Southeast of Prague to Benesov to Konopiste Castle, the old home of Frans Ferdinand d'Este who whose assassination triggered WW1. He was a mad huntsman, he killed around 300,000 animals in his lifetime, all recorded where and when, that's over 20 a day, loads of trophy's around the castle, including elephants and tigers, you have to dodge the deer antlers. Also has the 3rd largest armory in Europe which was impressive, lots of old hunting weapons as well as medieval weapons and armor. The grounds and castle exterior were impressive as well. Went for a wander down some country trails and got a little sunburned, its good to see the sun.

Got out of Prague again today and visited Plzen about an 1 hour and a 1/2 out of Prague by train to the west, the home of pils/pilsner/pilsener beer. They do a couple of nice brews there, Pilsner Urquell, the original pils which is a decent drop and sold around the world. Did a tour of the brewery which was sweet, very informative and a fresh beer was included. Also visited the main church in town which has the highest spire in Czech... oh yeah. Nice views from the top of the tower. Visited the 3rd largest synagogue in the world. Had a few beers in a swanky bar at the top of a sky scraper (16 stories), a small beer was 30 crowns (1 euro). Met some cool people on the train on the way and on the way back, makes for a good journey. Germans and Austrian travellers. Im outa Prague tommorow heading south to catch up with some Czech mates.
