Krakow, Poland

Caught the train to Krakow from Ostava, did not even get a stamp at the Czech/ Polish border but got delayed for 40 mins.... joy, had good company though, a couple of English speakers from Czech and Ukraine.

Krakow seems pretty sweet, very busy like Prague with young people and tourists. The castle complex is pretty nice, good photo opps and a nice armory. Public transport is average but im in a pretty sweet hostel for about 7 quid a night.

Visited the Wawel Castle complex, was nice, I'm still impressed by castles, coming from a land where people think Larnach castle in Otago peninsula is special is probably why. This one has a nice cathedral, big walls and an impressive armory and Palace. Also went for a random wander around the Jewish quarter, where allot of Shinlers list was filmed.

Went out to Oswiecim to the Auschwitz death camps which were used by the Nazis in WW2 to imprison and murder Jews and other unwanted people. Was full on hard to describe the feeling, a sort of numb helplessness. Very informative though and was worth doing, once anyway. Spent the whole day out there. Our group guide was good. Ann Frank was murdered at this camp in the red house gas chamber.

Got out to a few pubs with fellow travellers, tried some Polish beverages and food. Enjoyed Krakow was the worth the trip.
