Sighisora, Transylvania, Romania
Birthplace of Vlad the Impaler, the man on which the Dracula myth is based. Its a nice little town with a nice medieval citadel with cobbled streets and old houses. Alan, Dave and I arrived on an overnight train from Budapest, we rolled in at 4am and ended up eating a meal in the train restaurant. A meal was 60 pence and a beer was 50 pence. Alan paid in the local currency - Lei, and instead of getting coins as change he got cigarettes. Since then we have had chewing gum and a razor blade as change. Finally checked in to a hostel and went to sleep until lunch time. That afternoon did the sights of town, churches, citadel tower, German graveyard, etc. Went out that night with a group from our hostel. Next day recovered from drinking and had another wander around town, then jumped on a train to Romania's capital Bucharest.
