Caught the 10:30 bus from Klaipeda, it took 4hrs to do 160km, a bit of a tikitour around the countryside. Good but it was the start of a bad day in terms of onwards transport. Because I wanted to go to the Hill of Crosses which is 12km out of town I would miss the 3pm bus. Which I did, caught a local bus out to the turn off and walked the last 2km to the hill of Crosses, backpack and all. Left my pack with a busker and went for a wander around the site, pretty impressive, over 100,000 crosses of all shapes and sizes on a small hill, it looks amazing. The Soviets in the 60s kept bulldozing the site and the Lithuanians kept creeping back in, risking there lives to replant more crosses. Got back into town and found that the only hostel had no beds or something like that (communication problem). The next bus was leaving at at 8:50pm and there was no trains, the baggage storage in the station was closed. Ended up jamming my backpack into a supermarket locker and wandering around town for food, ended up spending a fair amount of time hanging out at the bus station with the bums who kept getting moved on by security guards because they were to drunk. In the end made it to Riga before midnight and found and checked into a hostel.
