Ended up staying in two different hostels over 2 nights, due to the high season, its the best time to see the countryside but everyone else is as well. Fort William is not a very pretty town, some planners put the road threw it between the loch and the high street. Weather while I was there was pretty iffy, but apparently thats normal for Scotland. Got up early and climbed Ben Nevis, its only 1,344 metres (4,409 ft) high and took me 2 1/2 hours to climb up but its a different world once you hit the cloud layer, wet and cold. Glad i listened to the warnings and wore warm clothes and took a spare layer, boots and a jacket, needed it. Stayed on the summit for about 5 mins then bailed as the wind was pushing the rain sideways into me and it was cold with about 5 metres viability. Only took about 1 1/2 hours to get back down, mind you I did overtake many people. That night changed hostels and the next morning walked part of the great glen way, got lost and almost missed my bus to Inverness.
