Took a day off from Yangshao and headed into Guilin, the big smoke about 70 km from Yangshao, with a population of 1.3 million. A nice city a bit like Kunming very modern with shopping centres , nice public transport, fast food chains. But has nice scenery in and around the city, karst stacks likes the ones in Yangshao. Bus took about an hour from Yangshao and was 15 Y. Got off the bus and went into the underground shopping centre, was a very long tube like system with many, many stores, got very lost and had trouble buying anything as there were to many choices, not many fixed prices and not much stuff that would fit me. Still had fun wandering around though. Loads of Chinese people shopping, its no wonder most people are well dressed you are either very poor of have bad dress sense if your not in Chinese city's, mind you if you looked at your clothes alot of them would be made in China. I did end up buying a pair of jeans for 50 Y ($8 Aussie) and a Adidas warm jacket for 120 Y ($20 Aussie). So cheap compared to back home.
Also did a bit of sightseeing and city wandering, was pretty cold, didn't go above degrees all day. Had a feed of McDonald's as well my first in 3 months or so (last one was in Krabi, Thailand). Once it got dark I jumped on a bus back to Yangshao.
