Wadi Rum

Caught a bus to the turnoff to Wadi rum and hitched towards this desert location in Southern Jordan. A few rides and a visit to the info centre later and we were in rum village sitting in a Bedouin mans house bargaining on the price of a overnight 4WD trip into the desert. 30 Dinar (30 Euros) each, 5hrs 4wd, accom in a tent camp in the desert, dinner and breakfast and transfer to the bus to next destination.

Ended up being a bargain, had a wicked trip, our 4WD was a big old Nissan Patrol and as our guide was a bit hungover we did most of the driving. Wicked scenery very photogenic, visited some dunes, rock bridges, springs, Lawrence of Arabia's house (for the movie). Not the desert scenery I expected, lots of rock stacks and hills, but alot of sand as well. Watched a very nice sunset from the top of a rock stack and had a good feed of BBQ chicken before passing out to the sound of our guide playing playing the lute.

Our Patrol would not start in the morning so got a ride into town with another group. Our guide Mohamed was feeling the worse for wear as he had been on the Whiskey most of the night.
